Integrated Rehabilitation Centres for Addicts
Drug and alcohol addiction can wreak havoc on communities and families, tearing them apart and ruining lives. To address this problem, we run 2 de-addiction centres where we counsel addicts and provide medication that reduces their urge to resort to addictive substances. Each centre serves 15 patients every month, adding up to an annual capacity to serve 360 patients. In reality, we end up serving more than that number.
1. Deepam: our centre at Tambaram
Run with the aid of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Deepam (meaning 'lamp') is a 15-bed hospital that treats addicts for an average of 3 to 4 weeks, after which most are rehabilitated and resume normal living. The few patients who do relapse are treated for longer.
2. Bodhimaram: our centre at Villupuram
Funded by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment At Bodhimaram (meaning ‘enlightenment’ ), we rehabilitate drug and alcohol addicts from Villupuram district with the support of qualified psychologists, counsellors, and a medical team.
